Shocking Photo Shows Damage to Marilyn Monroe Dress After Kim Kardashian At Met Gala | Clusterdam

Fans take notice of the damages in alleged before and after photos of Marilyn Monroe's dress after Kim Kardashian wore it to the Met Gala this year.

As seen in the before photo, many crystals were in place and the zipper or fabric wasn't ripped. However, in the alleged "after the Met Gala" picture, many of the crystals were missing or falling off and the fabric was ripped. Monroe wore the dress to President John F. Kennedy's birthday party in 1962. She sang "Happy Birthday" to Kennedy.

Fans shared their thoughts on the pictures on Twitter.

"No matter how famous you are, no matter how popular you are, no matter how rich you are, nobody should be tampering with stuff like this. Especially Marilyn's things, just leave her stuff alone or get a recreation made if you're so rich. Do not tamper with the original. Ever," one Twitter user wrote.

"Seeing a lot of tweets s****ing on Kim Kardashian for ruining the Marilyn dress and I've yet to see ONE calling out Ripley's Believe It or Not who shouldn't have had it in the first place, let alone let someone wear it," said another.

A user tweeted, "The historic Marilyn Monroe dress has been damaged. The sheer material is frayed & ripped around the zipper & some crystals have popped off from Kim Kardashian attempting to squeeze into it. A piece of Hollywood history has lost its flawless magnificence. Shame."

One user commented, "Yall this was not 'just a dress' it was literally custom made for marilyn and she wore it during a very important moment in her career. It was important to her before she passed away and its just disrespectful to take something like that and ruin it."

Monroe was literally sewn into the dress the night of the birthday celebration and wore nothing underneath for a "seamless fit," according to Vintage News. She wore the dress to embrace her "sex symbol" title despite being uncomfortable with it.

Kardashian wore the iconic dress on the red carpet with a white fur coat while posing with her boyfriend, Pete Davidson, then changed into a replica once inside.

Nick Woodhouse, President of Authentic Brands Group, which runs Monroe's estate, told TMZ that Monroe would have been "thrilled" to see Kardashian wear her dress.

On the contrary, Bob Mackie, who drew the original design of the dress when working under Jean Louis as an assistant, thought Kardashian wearing the historical dress was a "big mistake."

"[Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress," he told Entertainment Weekly.
